Traditional healer arrested ‘raiding’ grave in Ga-Rankuwa
They were allegedly looking for human bones.
A traditional healer and two associates were arrested when they were caught digging up a grave at a cemetery in Ga-Rankuwa last Friday.
The three were caught inside a grave at midnight, said Tshwane metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
Mahamba said TMPD officers received a complaint from cemetery security guards about people digging up graves.
“Upon the arrival of police, the suspects were still digging up the grave,” he said.
“When the three suspects were questioned, they could not account for what they were doing and where they got the permission to dig up the graves from.”
He said one of the suspects, a traditional healer, was allegedly looking for human bones.
Mahamba added that the suspects tried to bribe the officials with R1 500.
“They were arrested for violation of graveyard regulations, malicious damage to property and bribery,” he said.
