Pastor Maroke changes the lives of nine local kids
Pastor Tona Maroke raised funds to take nine kids to Mossel Bay, Western Cape to prepare them for secondary school classes.
Nine school learners from Ga-Rankuwa and Hammanskraal got the experience of a lifetime, all thanks to a local pastor.
Pastor Tona Maroke’s efforts and dream to take nine school learners to Mossel Bay, Western Cape has come true.
The House of Prayer full gospel church of God managed to take all the kids on the trip to prepare the Grade 7 learners for secondary school preparation classes.
A week ago Maroke, Tidimalo Moroeng from Tlipgat and Tumisane Menyoko of Ga-Rankuwa walked 36km to Hammanskraal to raise the funds for this trip. They raised enough funds to take nine kids on the trip.
The pastor and the kids travelled to Western Cape on Friday, September 30 and will return to Gauteng on Friday, October 7.
Maroke said this was a life-changing moment for the kids.
“The kids have been touring Western Cape. They have since been to the beach, participated in hiking and attended their classes.”
One beneficiary, 13-year-old Puseletso Lefifi, said she was happy to have travelled to Mossel Bay and thanked the pastor and everyone who contributed to the trip.
“I’m so excited to be here and I’m over the moon. I’ve been going to church and attending classes learning interesting things,” she said.
She spoke about her experience at the beach stating that it was not that bad although she didn’t fully enjoy it since she’s afraid of water.
“I enjoyed walking on the beach sand though,” she said.
