Police officer expected in court for rape

A police officer accused of the rape of a teenager in Soshanguve was expected to appear in the Pretoria North magistrate’s court today.
Independent police investigative directorate (IPID) spokesperson Lizzy Suping said the officer was arrested by the police of the railway rapid response unit in Pretoria on October 8.
“The police officer accused of raping a teenager in Soshanguve, is stationed at the Mabopane rapid rail response police unit.”
Suping said it is alleged the officer raped the teenager after a night of fun at various taverns in Soshanguve.
“The officer was officially charged on October 16,” she said.
