Various parts of the east of Pretoria were left without power this morning, October 19. Areas around Lynwood Manor, Brumeria, Die Wilgers, Equestria, La Montagne, Murayfield, and Lynnwood ridge were affected.
A 132KVA transformer tripped at Willows Substation. Technicians are currently on site attending to the matter, with a ward councillor for the city saying the matter should be resolved in about 3 hours, depending on the findings of the technical team.
Further outages were caused by cable theft of overhead cables at the corner of Hibiscus and Fremontia Street in Lynnwood Ridge.
The ward councillor, Malcom De Klerk, said that the technicians are carrying out testing to find the cause of the fault, after which power will be restored to the affected areas.
Areas that still do not have power after this could be caused by isolated faults.
He urged residents to report any power outages to the City of Tshwane by sending an SMS of the word “power” to 082 612 0333 or 44676.
