40 illegal immigrants to be deported to home countries

Forty illegal immigrants arrested over the weekend in Mamelodi during operation Okae Molao were found guilty and will be deported back to their countries of origin.
Police spokesperson Captain Johannes Maheso said the Mamelodi police the operation was in concert with other law enforcement.
He said in total 56 suspects were arrested for various crimes including “assault, drinking in public, driving under the influence of liquor, selling liquor without a licence”.
He said there was a lot of police visibility over the weekend in Mamelodi as Operation Okae Molao conducted road blocks around Mamelodi including on the corner of Stormvoël and Boundary roads near Eersterust.
He said the operation also helped beef up security at Moretele Park, where a jazz festival was ongoing on Saturday.
“Police would like to give a warning that they will be out in numbers at the beginning of festive season where there will be a lot of activities,” Maheso said.
He said the suspects have already appeared in court and 40 illegal immigrants were found guilty and will be fined then deported back to their home countries.
