Manhunt launched for rape and kidnapping suspects

The suspects raped her before calling her family to demand a ransom for her release.

The SAPS family violence, child protection and sexual offence unit in Mamelodi East are looking for two men in connection with a rape and kidnapping.

It is alleged that the victim was in a white Toyota Quantum on her way home on September 25 with other passengers.

At some point, as passengers disembarked, she remained with the driver and another man aged between 20 and 30 years.

“The victim said that the driver then told her that he was going to drop off the man in Nellmapius before both men threatened her and took her to an unknown location,” said police spokesperson Constable Lethabo Mashiloane.

He said the suspects raped her before calling her family to demand a ransom for her release.

“The incident was reported to the police and a case of rape and kidnapping was registered for further investigation,” said Mashiloane.

The identikits were compiled by SAPS with the help of the victim.

Mashiloane said the first suspect is light in complexion, slender and about 1,7m tall.

He was wearing a black V-neck T-shirt.

“The second suspect, who was the driver, is very dark in complexion, tall and was wearing a blue golf shirt and blue spotty,” he said.

The suspects spoke isiZulu and Sepedi.
