Soshanguve police and stakeholders plan for safer festive season

The police and stakeholders recently discussed festive season safety.

Soshanguve police have come up with a plan to combat crime this festive season.

Spokesperson Constable Nhlanhla Zondi said the police expected crime to escalate during this time.

On Wednesday, November 16, the station held a meeting with the local CPF, ward councillors, non-profit Green Door and the Soshanguve taxi owners association to discuss measures they will put in place ahead of the festive season to prevent crime in the area.

Zondi said criminals target residents in households and business premises during the festive season to rob them of their belongings.

He said the police will patrol the area to ensure that residents are safe as they move around.

“Soshanguve police as well as the CPF will ensure that malls and the community is safe by executing patrols within the area and not allowing criminals access to partake in criminal activities,” he said.

He said the association promised it would ensure that commuters travel safely and not allow robberies to take place in taxis or be perpetrated by people affiliated with the association.

He advised residents to lock their access gates and doors as well as close their windows to maximise their security.

Business owners should also intensify security on their premises.
