Social media reacts to killing of DJ Sumbody

A family spokesperson Mmanake Mokitimi said details of his passing cannot be disclosed as the investigation is still ongoing.

The Amapiano and house communities were shaken to the core on Sunday, November 20 when they woke up to the news that Oupa John Sefoka better, known as DJ Sumbody, had been shot dead.

It is alleged that he was shot along with his driver in a drive-by shooting in Woodmead, Johannesburg.

The motive of the shooting is not yet known.

A family spokesperson Mmanake Mokitimi said details of his passing cannot be disclosed yet as the investigation is still ongoing.

“The Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music Management have kindly requested privacy during this difficult time and will release a statement in due course,” said Mokitimi.

Details of the funeral and memorial service will be confirmed.

 

Several people including celebrities and politicians took to social media to share condolences with his family, friends and industry colleagues at this dark time:

The Tshwane metro mayor Randall Williams expressed his condolences to the Sefoka family and friends on behalf of the city.

 

“You are a victim of a mafia estate, failed state. Robala mfanaka mara I’m not ok,” EFF leader Julius Malema tweeted.

 

Artist Focalist has encouraged the public to stop violence and stated that he would miss him.

 

Mamelodi rapper Blacklez has also expressed sadness about the passing of DJ Sumbody.

Meanwhile, rapper KO said the passing of DJ Sumbody makes no sense.

 

Oskido said grief can be so hard but their memories will help him cope.
