Metro internet interruption will affect electricity purchases
Planned maintenance will mean residents will not be able to purchase electricity vending via online methods from 13:00 on Saturday to 14:00 on Sunday.
The Tshwane metro issued a statement on Friday, saying that residents would not be able to purchase electricity on banking apps, ATMs, retail shops, garages, spaza shops and cellphones this weekend.
This was due to upgrades at the city’s Centurion data centre on Saturday and Sunday.
“To safeguard the City’s network and server equipment hosted at Sita, Tshwane will shut down all its ICT equipment from 13:00 on Saturday and will switch them back after 14:00 on Sunday,” it said.
The City said that it had made alternative arrangements for residents to buy electricity from Customer Care walk-in centres at:
– Middestad
– Mamelodi Mini Munitoria
– Atteridgeville
– Soshanguve Block F
– Akasia
– Sinoville
– Centurion
– Olievenhoutbosch
– Bronkhorstspruit
– Hammanskraal
The centres will be open from 08:00 to 14:00 on Saturday and 08:00 to 12:00 on Sunday.
While walk-in centres will be operating, customers are advised to ensure that they have adequate electricity to take them through the weekend.
Other services that will be affected at City of Tshwane facilities include internet access, external email delivery, websites, VPN access, and all other services that are internet dependent.
