The police intend to utilise their maximum resources and dispatch more boots on the ground to ensure the festive season is safe.
Acting District Commissioner, Brigadier Samuel Thine, along with his office and other law enforcement agencies, led the operation in Atteridgeville, on November 24.
In addition to the many arrests made, the police also managed to take down a local group of suspects that have been terrorising locals in the Mshongoville informal settlement.

The police targeted the group after receiving tip-offs from residents about their activities.
“The information was immediately operationalised by various SAPS Units, which included Tshwane Crime Intelligence, K9 and Visible Policing members who proceeded to the location,” said Moloto.
After arriving at the location, dubbed “Kwa Mdlalose”, police seized an array of weapons and ammunition, among other illicit items.
The weapons seized consisted of a hunting rifle, a shotgun, and two 9mm pistols. Police also recovered rounds of ammunition for 9mm’s, 45 magnums as well as hollow-point bullets.

Some illicit items recovered included “suspected stolen properties namely SANDF complete set of uniforms, bulletproof vests and hand radios, two laptops, cellphones, a plasma tv and housebreaking implements,” said Moloto.
Brigadier Thine hopes this effort will send a warning to criminals that authorities will be on their tails.
“I want to assure the locals and the general public that crime has no space in Tshwane and I encourage the people to report any suspicious and/or criminal activities to the police,” said Thine.
The suspects arrested are expected to appear before the Atteridgeville and Pretoria magistrate’s courts.
Police are still on the hunt for suspects related to Kwa Mdlalose and any residents with information are urged to contact local authorities.
