NEWSFLASH: CIT heist leaves guard in critical condition

No other colleagues on duty with the guard were injured.

A cash-in-transit (CIT) security guard is in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds during a robbery in the late hours of November 25 in Silverton.

Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the call and upon arrival found remnants of the cash van which had been bombed by an unknown number of suspects and had crashed on Watloo Rd, Silverton.

“Advanced Life Support intervention was needed to stabilise the guard before he was airlifted by the Netcare911 aeromedical helicopter to a specialist facility for the definitive care that he required,” said Emer-G-Med Spokesperson Kyle Van Reenen.
