Metro donates 11 wheelchairs to Soshanguve residents

This forms part of the disability rights awareness month and national day of persons living with disabilities, which is commemorated on Saturday, December 3.

Eleven disabled persons received a wheelchair each as gift at Xola disability centre in Soshanguve block JJ on Monday.

According to MMC for community and social development Peggy de Bruin, the Tshwane metro donated 11 wheelchairs in commemoration of disability rights awareness month.
De Bruin said the metro strove to take responsibility for eradicating the persistent systemic discrimination and exclusion experienced by persons with disabilities.

She said the idea is to work together with the local government by focusing on giving persons with disability equal opportunities.

“We focus on celebrating the achievements and contributions persons with disabilities make to socio-economic development and nation-building,” she said.
