Sosh authors that made their mark this year
Soshanguve authors dominated local trends this year with their work.
From teaching accounting through poems, to falling in love with an inmate all for the sake of healing the world.
We look at three Soshanguve authors who made a mark in the area this year.
Botshelo Mthomboti – A Black Child Transformed By Accounting

A young girl from Soshanguve Block FF has introduced a fun way of learning accounting to make it fun for anyone interested in the subject.
Mthomboti (20) wrote a book A Black Child Transformed By Accounting which seeks to help those who are struggling with accounting learn it through poetry, a novel way of learning the subject.
According to the author, growing up in a toxic environment without the courage to speak out inspired her to write poems which ended up giving birth to the book.
“I come from a very dysfunctional family, it was toxic and I wasn’t brave enough to talk to anyone. Instead, I wrote poems that reflected how I felt and that’s how I was healed,” she said.
Lerato Phakoe – The Sake Of Living and The Kindness Paid With Pain

A young author has been reaping the rewards of her hard work after penning down her hardships and life experiences into two books.
Phakoe (19) of Soshanguve has been collecting awards since 2021 following the release of her book For The Sake Of Living and The Kindness Paid With Pain.
She has managed to collect three awards in her young promising career and won her latest one on Saturday, October 29.
The awards are Best Creative at MIA CWLA award 2022, Outstanding Creative at Vita Basadi Award and an honorary African Honouree award 2021.
Tshidi Monkoe – Prison Love

Self-published Soshanguve author Tshidi Monkoe poured her heart out into a book titled Prison Love, in which she tells how she fell in love with an inmate.
Monkoe said she wrote the book to quash the misconceptions society have about women who get into such relationships.
Monkoe fell in love with a man who was incarcerated only a few months after she left her ex-husband.
She met her prison partner over the phone when he had called looking for his sister at her workplace in Centurion, and the relationship blossomed.
