Multiple arrests during multidisciplinary operation in Tshwane

All suspects will appear in their respective magistrates courts.

The Ga-Rankuwa policing area was the main focus of a multidisciplinary operation that took place last night, which resulted in the arrest of 329 suspects.
it was carried out with the assistance of various stakeholders such as the Gauteng Traffic Department, Tshwane Metro Police Department, the Departments of Home Affairs, Correctional Service, Community Safety, as well as Tracker and SAPS members from different units and stations in the Tshwane Policing District.
Detectives arrested 268 suspects for various offenses, of which 15 were for Gender Based Violence-related incidents.
During the operation 1097 persons were searched and 21 individuals were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, and 13 for drinking in public. A vehicle was recovered, a maroon Renault Sandero, which was reported stolen in Lephalale in 2014.
An inspection of liquor outlets resulted in the closing of five illegal shebeens, where 106 524 ml of liquor as well as two gambling machines were confiscated and will be destroyed.
A total of 637 vehicles were searched and seven Aarto infringement notices were issued to the value of R3 700.
Several high density crime prevention operations were conducted in the Tshwane District Policing precint over the past weekend.
These operations were held under the command of the Tshwane District Commissioner, Major – General Azwinndini Nengovhela.
The arrests included for driving under the influence of alcohol, common assault, possession of drugs, possession of stolen property, damage to or destroying of essential infrastructure, fraud and drinking in public.
Nengovhela commended and thanked every member who was involved in the various operations over the weekend.
“All successes are a result of stakeholders’ commitment and dedication to keeping Tshwane safe,” he said.
All suspects will appear in their respective magistrates courts.
