Rietvlei Nature Reserve closed due to heavy rains

Constant rainfall has made the dirt roads and bridges inaccessible

The Rietvlei Nature Reserve has been closed as heavy rains continue.

According to MMC Katlego Mathebe, the bridges are all flooded, and the dirt roads are muddy and inaccessible.

Notices have been put up at the entrance gate and on social media platforms.

It is anticipated that the will reopen on Monday.

According to a forecast from Vox Weather, Pretoria is still expected to receive 50mms of rain this weekend with more widespread showers and thundershowers.

The Gauteng Weather Service has issued a Level Two Yellow Warning for Gauteng indicating disruptive rainfall with potential damage to roads and infrastructure.

However, the forecast suggests that the extreme stormy conditions in Gauteng will be clearing up by Sunday.
