UPDATE: Body of man swept by Apies River found
The divers were deployed on Friday to search for the man but had to call their effort off due to rising water.
The body of the man swept away by the Apies River last Thursday was found on Sunday afternoon.
The man was swept away by strong currents near the Pretoria zoo on Thursday afternoon around 13:00.
Pretoria has been hit by above-average rainfall since last Wednesday.
According to the local police divers, the man’s body was found at Wonderboom Junction in Wonderboom.
It is unclear at this stage if the body has been identified.
The divers were deployed on Friday to search for the man but had to call their effort off due to rising water.
Only once it was safe was the rescue effort continued.
Warrant Officer Frans Pang of the divers said the situation became too dangerous when the water levels rose.
