Porsche ploughs through local coffee shop window
“Unfortunately we do not have a drive-thru,” says local coffee shop JulieBean after a Porsche drove through their front door.
No one was hurt when a Porsche drove through the window of Lynwood coffee shop, JulieBean, on Sunday morning.
JulieBean jokingly informed the public on their Facebook page that their shop does not have a drive-through.
The owners of the artisanal coffee shop, Julie and Riaan Venter, confirmed that the shop was closed on Sunday and that no one was injured in the incident.
Riaan told Rekord that they were grateful that the incident resulted in no injuries and that the accident was, thankfully, one that they could recover from as no serious structural damage was done.

The coffee shop was opened to receive customers by Monday morning.
“Nobody got hurt. If it had been a Saturday, it would have been a different story.
“Julie and I are quite positive people, so we thought we would keep a positive attitude towards it. It was an accident.
“One thing that amazed us was the community. Within five minutes, people phoned to offer help and find out if anyone was hurt.
“The car was in our shop, on the table. Not leaking petrol, no fires, no serious structural damage, no one was hurt,” he said.
The community offered the owners support and regulars came to the café to help where they could.
Venter said that the towing company that came to remove the car didn’t have the correct equipment to pull a car out of a building, but luckily a regular patron had a plan.
“One of our regulars said that he had many bags of wood and suggested that we stacked the wood under the wheels and push the car out.”
“We scrambled to get everything going by Monday morning, and we were able to be open by 06:00 the next day.”
Venter said that there was quite a bit of damage to the windows and some damage to the front walls, but that the man’s car missed the structural pillar holding up the apartments above the shop.
The Porsche came to a stop after balancing on a wooden table that had been at the window. The coffee shop joked: “Our tables are strong, but not as strong as our coffee.”
He said that the strong table that caught the unexpected visitor would be fixed up and kept in the store.
“We want to fix up the table and put a Porsche sign to commemorate the incident”
