Live music for every taste in Pretoria this weekend
The capital city always has a lot to offer when it comes to entertainment. Check out these local events this weekend.

Pretoria is the perfect place to be to see some of South Africa’s top artists, and if you missed that Valentine’s dinner date, the capital city has plenty of performances to make up for it.
Neil Sandilands with Albert Frost and Schalk Joubert, 15 and 17 February

7de Laan’s Bart, the well-known actor Neil Sandilands, is touring his home country with his new performance said to be a little bit of protest, self-deprecating humour and irony woven into a left-of-centre delivery with his ukulele and guitar.
Sandilands will be performing with guests Schalk Joubert on bass, Luna Paige on keys and backup vocals, Albert Frost on electric guitar, violinist Rayelle Goodman and percussionist Ronan Skillen. The show promises to be intimate, humorous and thoughtful and is catered for audiences 16 and up.
Fans can catch the performance twice in Pretoria, at Café Barcelona on February 15, and Die Blou Hond on February 17.
Synth Peter, February 18

More of a fan of that “doef-doef” type of music? Pretoria-grown Stellenbosch producer Synth Peter is back in his home town to burn down the bar.
Synth Peter was born out of a love for Afrikaans, but not so much its old-school music, bringing in a new alternative to Sokkie music for those who like to dance.
Synth Peter will be performing at Sowaar Bar from 20:00 on February 18.
Stones & Gold, February 18

Pretoria rock band Stones & Gold is launching their new album Two of a Kind Pt. I with a big bash, and an expanded band. The usual duo will be joined by Brendon Bez on guitar, Raziella Grey on violin and vocals, and Stiaan Du Preez on bass.
Opening the launch will be blues-rock singer and songwriter Ross Harding.
This latest EP follows their successful Two of a Kind Pt. II released late last year, with the band saying they released the EPs in that order just like George Lucas did for Star Wars.
The launch will be taking place at Railways Café in Irene
Fake Leather Blues Band, February 18

A twentieth anniversary only comes once and the Fake Leather Blues Band will be celebrating theirs with a line-up of friends. The band says that they have been faking it for the last 20 years, and want you to fake it with them.
Tean & Oranges, and the Black Water will be joining the headliners for a night of rock and blues at Jarr Bar, with opening acts starting at 20:00 and closing act at 22:00.
Alouise, February 19

Some artists are made to be seen live, and Alouise is no exception. An expert in the art of the one-woman show, Alouise will be bringing her hat, her songs, her guitar, her kick pedal and her loop station to Relish Bistro for a fun afternoon show, perfect for your Sunday-fun day.
Alouise will be performing between 13:00 and 16:00.
