Barebow mounted archer’s demonstration show

Archers on horses demonstrated shooting methods, speed, dance, and exercises to improve accuracy and speed as a sport.

Pretoria residents had the opportunity to learn shooting traditional bow and arrows over the weekend.

The opportunity was presented by Barebow mounted archers who held an archery demonstration show during a family market at Lavender Kontrei Mark on Saturday.

Deirdre Janse van Rensburg from Barebow Mounted Archers said archers on horses demonstrated shooting methods, speed, dance, and exercises to improve accuracy and speed as a sport.

She said Young Blood Equestrian Archers also came on board for the demonstration to show people how they train and showcased the types of event they get in competition.

“Four horse riders did the demonstration shooting from horseback, jump shots and shooting on the ground,” said Deirdre.

Barebow mounted archers had a market stall where they taught the public how to shoot, and hold traditional bows and arrows for only R20 to shoot five arrows.

Lavender Kontrei Mark is a family-orientated market which offers a variety of arts, crafts and food stalls with great entertainment for the day.
