Boerboel Breeder show

“We were looking at the dogs' muscle tone, the health of the coat, height, general appearance and discipline.”

Boerboel lovers came in their numbers to participate in the Boerboel Breeder show on Saturday.

The show was organised by the Gauteng South African Boerboel Breeders society (Sabbs) and it was held at Lavender Kontrei Mark in Wonderboom.

Rolan Dercksen, representing Gauteng Sabbs, said 75 dogs entered the competition show in different categories.

It was the first time the event was held at the Lavender Kontrei Mark.

He said the Boerboel breeders Show promotes educational programs, exercises and training courses for this breed.

“The owners and breeders entered their dogs in different classes that were offered on the day from 0 to 3 months, 6 months to 9 months, 12 to 15 months and senior classes for females and male dogs,” said Dercksen.

“We were looking at the dogs’ muscle tone, the health of the coat, height, general appearance and discipline,” he added.

There were classes for junior dog handlers under the age of 13 years and above.

Trophies and dog food were won by the dogs who performed very well.

Lavender Kontrei Mark is a family-orientated market which offers a variety of arts, crafts and food stalls with great entertainment for the day.

The public had the opportunity to interact with dog breeders and puppies.
