Mams artist honours the greats in song

A local actor and author wants to honour the people who have touched his life through his music

A local actor and author wants to honour the people who have touched his life through his music.

Zephonia Ngoepe (34) of Mamelodi East, also known as Zeph MMT, released his first album Umma to appreciate the work mothers do in the home.

“Some women are single parents yet are doing great things at home,” said Zeph.

“The album has eight tracks. There are songs I wrote about politicians like Julius Malema as well as Panyaza Lesufi and actor Dr John Kani.”

He said he started working on the album last year December and it was completed in January.

Zeph is currently writing songs to honour the great people in our lives.

He recently wrote a book about love, The love of my soul.

“The book is for everyone – young people and adults can read it – even those who had given up on relationships,” said Ngoepe.

He said it took him about five months to finish all 40 love poems in the book.

“The book’s messages are to help people out there, especially those who have lost hope in relationships by encouraging them not to lose hope,” said Ngoepe.

Talking about his music, he says he worked alone on his first album but in future wants to work with other artists and shoot music videos.

Zeph is a man of many talents – actor, author, poet and songwriter, and has appeared in several TV shows.

His message to the youth of Mamelodi: “Youth must take education very seriously before they follow their music career and whatever they want to achieve in life”.

He further said stay away from drugs and crime because it will destroy their lives.

“The year 2023 is the year of pursuing dreams, goals and assignment on earth. It won’t be easy to achieve your dream and it might take long but pursue your dream and don’t give easily in life,” said Zeph.
