Grade 8 pupil rushed to hospital after getting hand impaled on fence

Hydraulic equipment had to be used to free the pupil's hand from the fence

A 14-year-old pupil from Hoërskool Overkruin was rushed to hospital after getting his hand impaled on a fence on Monday morning.

According to a statement, Pro Med EMS paramedics were called to the school where they found the pupil’s hand still impaled on the fence.

Gauteng Provincial Government’s Special Operations Rescue team was also deployed to aid the paramedics in their rescue efforts.

Hydraulic equipment had to be used to cut the piece of fence where the pupil’s hand was impaled.

The pupil was placed on advanced life support before being transported to the nearest hospital for further treatment.
