Man caught with stolen goods belonging to metro

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

A man in his 30s was charged and arrested for possession of suspected stolen property at the Akasia police station on Tuesday.

Akasia police spokesperson Lindiwe Mabasa said the suspect was apprehended by a security company and brought to the station.

According to reports from the guard on duty, the man looked suspicious while walking nearby.

“The guard stopped the man and searched his bag and found tools/equipment said to belong to the Tshwane municipality.

“When he was questioned regarding how he got the tools/equipment, he failed to answer. That is when the guard brought him to the station,” said Mabasa.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.

Police are encouraging residents to inform police of any suspicious behaviour within the community that could lead to the arrest of criminals.

Community members can call the station on 012 564 0700.
