Law enforcement crack down on criminals in Okae Moloa op, 304 arrested

“A total of 49 undocumented persons were arrested. A woman in her late 30s was arrested for possession of network jamming devices.”

Tshwane police arrested 304 suspects during an O Kae Molao operation on Thursday in Centurion.

The operation was held at the both Erasmia and Wierdabrug policing precincts.

District police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo said the multidisciplinary and intelligence operation was led by Major-General Azwinndini Nengovhela.

According to Shibambo, the operation was held in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies such as home affairs, the labour department, traffic police, Wildlife Academy K9, metro police, Monitor Net security and the local CPF, amongst others.

“A total of 49 undocumented persons were arrested. A woman in her late 30s was also arrested for possession of network jamming devices.

“Two suspects were arrested for dealing in dagga, four shebeens were closed for operating without licences or permits and the owners were issued with hefty fines,” he added.

He said 83 fines valued at R39 500 were issued by the Gauteng traffic police, while the metro police issued 37 fines at the value of R16 600 to motorists.

Shibambo said 2 067 civilians and 1 630 vehicles were searched during the operation, adding that a total of 700 vehicles were also tested to establish if they were not stolen.

All suspects who were arrested and found to have committed serious crimes such as gender-based violence are expected to appear in various courts in the city.

The police’s operation O Kae Molao sought to ensure that motorists and residents adhere to road regulations, and is also aimed at cracking down on crime and lawlessness.

During the operations law enforcement agencies conducted a series of roadblocks, visiting restaurants and pubs to establish if they were operating lawfully and that they are adhering to the regulations and rules stipulated on their permits or licences.
