Petrol price hike on the cards
The petrol price is expected to increase in May for a second month in a row.

Motorists might have to dig deeper into their pockets as another petrol price hike is expected for May.
This follows another increase that came into effect on April 5.
According to a report from media company eNCA, next month the price for petrol will increase but diesel’s will decrease.
“A significant petrol hike is expected next month, while diesel and paraffin prices are set to decrease.
“The Central Energy Fund (CEF) data indicates both grades of petrol will increase by over 50 cents a litre, while diesel will drop by over 30 to over 50 cents a litre,” reported eNCA.
eNCA reported that the Automobile Association said this was relief for diesel users.
“Illuminating paraffin is anticipated to cost 32 cents less per litre while diesel is anticipated to cost between 31 and 57 cents cheaper per litre for the various grades.
CEF corporate affairs manager Jacky Mashapu referred Rekord to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy (DMRE).
DMRE spokesperson Makhosonke Buthelezi said he could not comment at the moment since there was still consultation on the prices.
“We will issue an official communication soon on the petrol hike issues, and we cannot say much at this stage,” Buthelezi told Rekord.
Motorist Hlayani Chauke said the expected hike will hit him hard.
“If the hike comes into effect, I will be badly affected as I drive almost 100km five days a week to work.
“I will have to chip in money meant for my family and cover petrol cost. So, we have to brace ourselves for a monthly petrol hike,” Chauke said.
