Multiple Pretoria accidents leave two dead and one critically injured

A female motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in a crash on the Pretoria road while a pedestrian was left dead after he was hit by a light motor vehicle on the N4 near Donkerhoek.

Emergency services responded to a number of accidents in the east of Pretoria where two people sustained fatal injuries and one was left critically injured at the weekend.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson, Kyle van Reenen, their medics responded to a fatal motorcycle accident on Friday.

“It was just after 23:00 when we received reports of a serious motorcycle crash on the Pretoria road next to the Pretoria Botanical Gardens.”

Van Reenen said the motorcyclist was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.

“The 36-year-old female was found to have sustained fatal injuries after losing control of her motorcycle.”

In a separate incident the Emer-G-Med paramedic services responded to a serious truck accident in the early hours of Saturday at Fountains circle in Groenkloof.

“The male patient believed to be in his fifties was found entrapped in the cabin of his interlink truck that had overturned,” Van Reenen told Rekord.

He said the extraction was facilitated by the Tshwane fire department.

“The patient, who had serious injuries, was stabilised by advanced life support medics and was transported to a specialist facility under Emer-G-Med.”

While on the N4 near Donkerhoek a pedestrian died after being struck by a light motor vehicle.

According to Van Reenen when medics arrived, they found a man lying on the road.

“The pedestrian was declared dead on the scene,” he said.

“The driver of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries,” he added.

He said all the accident scenes were attended to by the Saps for further investigations.

Police have yet to comment.
