Salvokop residents had the opportunity to air their grievances to Central police during a recent community engagement session.

The session took place on April 25 around 18:00 at Jopie Fourie Primary School.

“This will be a continuous effort by the station to try to minimise crime and to come up with strategies in policing the community of Salvokop,” said spokesperson Constable Thabang Nkhumise.

“A joint effort by the station and CPF addressed several crimes in the area.

“A crime presentation was also done to give an overview of crime in the area,” Nkhumise continued.

The panel consisted of station commander Brigadier Dladla, head of the detectives unit Colonel Ndala, Vispol head Colonel Maboea, Criminal Information Management and Analysis Centre’s (Cimac) Colonel Manamela, sector commander Warrant Officer Diketane, CPF chairperson Msimanga and district CPF representative Mlotshwa.

The community was offered the platform to engage with the members and raise their views and inputs as well as ask questions that needed to be addressed.

“The community engagement seeks to achieve sustainable outcomes, equitable decision-making process as well as to deepen the relationship and trust of the community,” Nkhumise continued.

As part of deepening trust and relations within the community, the Central SAPS have also recently made upgrades to their station’s GBV support room in partnership with the Marabastaad business community.
