Pretoria rocked by 5.0 magnitude tremor

Pretoria residents woke early on Sunday morning to heavy shaking and rumbling. Did you feel it?

Residents of Pretoria woke up to a seismic event of the earth trembling under their feet in the early hours of Sunday morning.

THE QUAKE WAS FELT IN THE EARLY HOURS OF SUNDAY MORNING

Earth Quake Track recorded a 5.0 magnitude tremor in Gauteng just before 03:00.

Residents in Lyttleton, Pretoria East, Montana, and the Moot reported the tremor.

RESIDENTS SHARED THEIR EXPERIENCES ON SOCIAL MEDIA

They took to social media to share their experiences of being awoken by their homes shaking and furniture rattling.

The epicenter is believed to be near Alberton. No immediate reports of any damages or injuries to people have been reported.

Did you feel the tremor? 

Last year in February, an earthquake of magnitude 2.7 was reported in the Centurion area near Pretoria.

The quake was not only felt by locals but residents from Midrand and other northern suburbs of Johannesburg were also shaken from their slumber by the rattling thunder-like noise.
