Kloofsig embankment cleared for a safer neighbourhood
AfriForum Centurion’s neighbourhood teams and volunteers cleared a large area of overgrown plants and trash.
Motorists and residents in Kloofsig will have a safer time after a local community team cleaned up an overgrown and littered spot in the area.
AfriForum Centurion’s neighbourhood team cleaned up the embankments in Trichardt Avenue (M10) between Kruger and Smuts roads.
The team came together to clean this past Saturday from 08:00 to 13:00.
“The Kloofsig residents and the AfriForum Centurion branch joined hands and together took ownership of their suburb, street by street,” said AfriForum chairperson Andre de Bruyn.
“Together we build islands of excellence.”

As part of the clearing, the team cut back a large amount of vegetation, while removing many bags of trash.
“If anyone wants cuttings for their vegetable garden or flower beds, feel free to come and get it, it’s free,” said De Bruyn. “Just bring your own bag.”
The community organisation had one goal in mind: to make life easier and safer for the community around them.
Monitor Net spokesperson JP Le Roux told Rekord that several reaction officers were present to ensure the safety of the teams working on the embankment.
AfriForum said they use the funds raised from the community in the area to launch these types of community projects.
The Centurion branch is responsible for keeping the parks tidy, as well as cutting the grass in those parks, to make sure that they are passable and usable for community members.
The organisation aims to encourage communities to take the initiative to improve their environment when no one else is doing so.
“The only way forward is to be state-resistant and self-reliant, by creating strong community institutions and private companies for what is decaying.
“It’s possible we just have to think more and expect more of ourselves,” Afriforum Centurion said in a post on social media.
