Metro police recover stolen vehicle within an hour

Swift response by the TMPD leads to the recovery of a stolen car, dangerous weapon, groceries and home appliances within an hour

In its swift and effective response, Tshwane metro police (TMPD) recovered a stolen vehicle and property within an hour of the theft in Hammanskraal, Temba.

TMPD spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said this was a remarkable feat, and a testament to the efficiency and dedication of his officers.

He said they were conducting stop and search operations in Temba early on Saturday morning.

“Around 02:00 they tried to stop a white Mazda, which unfortunately made a U-turn and drove away.

“The officers gave chase and the suspects crashed into rocks.”

The five suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

“When the members approached the vehicle, they found dangerous weapons and suspected stolen goods,” Mahamba said.

It was later discovered the vehicle had just been stolen during a house robbery six houses away.

Mahamba said the suspects broke into the house and assaulted the occupants, took groceries, appliances and the vehicle.

He said the five suspects are still at large.

A docket was opened at Temba SAPS for a stolen motor vehicle and property, as well as house robbery and assault.

Residents who might have any information regarding this incident can contact the nearest SAPS or TMPD on 012 358 7095/6.
