Hercules police hunt two suspects for attempted farm murder and robbery
Farm attacks are on the rise in the north of Pretoria as the festive season begins.
A 69-year-old farm owner is fighting for his life in Kalafong Hospital after he was shot by robbers at his farmhouse in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Hercules CPF secretary Johan Cloete confirmed the incident to Rekord.
Cloete said during the gruesome attack, the farm owner’s wife and kids were luckily unharmed but were in shock.
“Two suspects entered the victim’s house around 01:00, and they shot the man in the face. Fortunately, he is alive and he was rushed to hospital,” said Cloete.

“This is the sixth farm attack in less than a month. There have been a lot of farm attacks in our area lately, and we are battling this and we will overcome it.”
Police had yet to comment on the incident.
There has been a surge in farm attacks around the Capital City since the beginning of the festive season.
Last month Rekord reported robberies had occurred in Uitzicht, Kameeldrift West, and Onderstepoort farm.
In Kameeldrift West an elderly couple was assaulted and robbers took off with electric appliances, including a TV and two Samsung cellphones.

While in Onderstepoort, robbers surprised a couple cleaning a pigpen on the property.
At the time, police spokesperson Johan van Dyk said robbers struck the couple with a firearm, shoved them into the pigpen, and proceeded to take their cellphones, electric appliances, Ford Ranger and Ford Bantam.
The man later identified two suspects as his employees.
