Centurion artist releases music video with strong empowering message

A multi-talented artist who is making a splash on the local music scene, has launched a mesmerising music video for his latest single, 'Break A Broken Heart.'

A Centurion artist and medical doctor, Nelven, is back with a mesmerising music video for his latest single, Break A Broken Heart.

The artist, known in his every day life as Pierre Nel, seamlessly combines his roles as musician, medical doctor and professional model.

The electro-pop cover, originally performed by Cyprus’ Andrew Lambrou at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2023, has been creatively reimagined by Nelven.

To this attractive and popular model and singer, reimagination means putting a spin on the music he likes.

“I firstly consider myself a creative. In general I write a lot of original music but for this new Nelven rebranding project, I will gladly do covers if I can put my own version out there,” said Nelven.

He called his style edgy electrical pop.

“I put a more dramatic spin on things than than the original song. I give it my own style and flavour,” said Nelven.

Directed by the visionary Gerduan Kemp and produced by Muse Studios, the video takes viewers on a visual journey that complements the song’s theme of resilience and recovery.

Nelven said his medical training is the backbone of his resilience.

“I work long hours and night shifts. During our training, these were especially excruciating. Working in the field of oncology I also see a lot of people with problems bigger than mine. This perspective eliminates self pity,” he said.

He said the roles of medical professional and artist do not align at present but he can handle them by being professional in both.

“My music background does not interfere with my professional life and the other way around. Fortunately I can respectively be a doctor during work hours and musician at night,” he said.

The beautifully shot video captures the essence of the song’s empowering message, celebrating the triumph over heartbreak and the strength within oneself.

“I am incredibly excited to share the Break A Broken Heart music video with my fans. This visual journey adds a new dimension to the song, bringing its empowering message to life. It’s a celebration of strength, resilience, and the joy that comes from overcoming challenges,” said Nelven.

He said he believes “sometimes we need to break before we can grow”.
