Decomposing body of young man found near bush in Hammanskraal

Police suspect the body could have been lying in the bush for more than two days.

A decomposing body of a young man was found near a bush at Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria on Monday, February 26.

The body was found face down in Sekampaneng V-section in the early hours of Monday, police said.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said an inquest has been opened for further investigation.

“The family of the deceased has identified him,” Van Dyk said.

He said the community tipped off police to the decomposing body.

“It is suspected the deceased had been lying there for more than two days.”

Van Dyk said the investigations will help determine the cause of death.

The body has been submitted for an autopsy.

He appealed for information that could assist in the investigation.

“The public can remain anonymous with information that can help with the police investigation and anyone with information can contact the Temba police.
