The Voortrekker Monument held its first ever Oppi Markplein family festival on Saturday.

The family festival was about bringing families together and enjoying a nice day out at the monument.

FC Pelser from the Monument said the festival started with the weekly morning Parkrun, and what better way to start a weekend than with fresh air and jogging followed by various activities?

He said the monument is a cultural home, where you can come and enjoy everything beautiful about the country and our various cultures. That’s where the idea for the festival came from.

The family festival also provided various stalls and local businesses with new commercial opportunities.

He said the stalls offered a wide range of products and services, including clothing, bags, plants, books, perfume, jewellery, food, and beverages.
