Eskom advises Tshwane residents to log faults after power is restored to areas in the north

Eskom announced that restoration has been complete regarding major power outages.

Eskom says it has restored power to about 95 000 customers north of Pretoria who were without power earlier this week.

It also advised those who are still without power to log a fault and report it to the power utility.

In a statement on Tuesday, April 16, it said it had successfully replaced the voltage transformer at the Babelegi substation.

Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said as a result, power supply had been fully restored to all the affected areas.

These areas include Bridgeview, Dilopye, Eersterust, Ga-Motla, Hammanskraal West, Hans Kekana, Kudube, Majaneng, Makapanstad, Mashimong, Mathibestad, Rens, Sekampaneng, Stinkwater, Suurman and Temba.

Eskom technicians repaired the major outage on Monday.

“Our dedicated team is diligently working on repairing the outstanding main line, including the conductor and the damaged insulators,” Mokwena said at that time.

“We sincerely appreciate our customer’s patience and understanding throughout this outage.”

A few residents from one of the affected areas, Mathibestad, commented on social media that the power outage had not been restored yet on Tuesday.

Eskom Gauteng spokesperson Amanda Qithi advised residents who are still without power to log a fault and report it.

“It must be an isolated fault,” she said.
