Sundowns Diski secure convincing victory over Royal AM

In the 20th minute, the Sundowns extended their lead with a goal from Buthelezi.

The Mamelodi Sundowns Diski team put on an impressive performance as they secured a 3-0 victory over the Royal AM Reserves on Saturday morning at the Lucas Moripe stadium.

The Brazilians dominated the match, with goals from Siyabonga Ndebele, Thando Buthelezi, and Keabetswe Ramotsei sealing the win for the team.

The game got off to an exciting start when Kutlwano Letlhaku created an early chance for Sundowns just two minutes into the match.

The hosts had several opportunities to score, but a fortuitous rebound goal gave coach Themba’s charges the perfect start.

It came from a corner kick that went directly into the box but not past the keeper.

Ndebele capitalised on a rebound after the opponents failed to clear, to put the Sundowns ahead.

Royal AM attempted to retaliate, but the Sundowns’ defence denied them any chance to level the score.

Ndebele’s defensive skills were on display when he headed the ball out of danger off a corner kick awarded to Royal AM.

Onele Rulwana made a brilliant pass that split the defence to put Ramotsei free on goal, but the keeper got to the ball before the captain did, ending the chance.

In the 20th minute, the Sundowns extended their lead with a goal from Buthelezi.

Buthelezi found himself alone as he sidestepped the defence and beat the goalkeeper from the right side, giving his team a comfortable two-goal lead at half-time.

A dangerous tackle on Letlhaku resulted in a red card, and Royal AM was reduced to 10 men less than 10 minutes into the second half.

Bafana Ba Style looked to take advantage of their numerical advantage by scoring a third goal, but the visitors’ defence became tighter.

The Pretoria-based team scored a third goal from a penalty kick just before the hour mark.

The referee had pointed to the spot after Rulwana was brought down in the box while driving the ball on the left.

Ramotsei scored the penalty and sent the goalkeeper flying in the opposite direction, increasing the lead to 3-0.

The Brazilians were unsatisfied with the three goals and wanted to extend their lead.

Buthelezi shot wide from the edge of the area.

Super sub Jerome Karelse had three promising chances to score, but the opposition defence held firm.

Masandawana dominated the entire 90 minutes while their opponents packed their own box. They finished with maximum points, closing in on first-place Stellenbosch FC in the table.
