Life Groenkloof hospital celebrates nurses and patient-centred care
International Nurses' Day is commemorated on 12 May internationally.
Life Groenkloof Hospital is proudly recognising and acknowledging their nurses this International Nurses’ Day, Sunday 12 May 2024.
“We recognise them for their dedication, their commitment and their care in making life better for patients,” the hospital said in a statement.
International Nurses’ Day commemorates the vital role of nurses and observes the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. Nightingale transformed nursing practices and laid the foundations for the nursing profession. These transformative practices included a focus on compassionate care, which today is also often referred to as patient-centred care, and why nursing is considered the heart and backbone of healthcare.
“International Nurses’ Day is an important day on our hospital calendar because it allows us to honour and celebrate our nurses for their incredible commitment to excellence in patient care. Our nurses not only work hard to provide quality nursing but they heal the body, mind and soul for many of our patients, with compassion and care,” said Henriette Pretorius, Hospital Manager.
Life Healthcare also thanked the local community for putting their trust in Life’s nurses and hospital services.
Life Healthcare Chief Nurse Officer, Merle Victor also extended her thanks to all Life Healthcare nurses. “We recognise and applaud the work you do, not only for our Company but also for the people in your communities. Your compassion, care and professionalism is highly valued and contributes significantly to the overall well-being of our organisation, individuals and society as a whole.”
Nurses are skilled and trained healthcare professionals who blend the science and art of nursing together with an unwavering dedication to care for the sick and the vulnerable. They are committed to teamwork, adaptability, compassion, empathy and much more.
