Several roadways in the east of Pretoria will be closed by the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) due to a motorcade awareness parade by The Superkids Trust on Sunday, May 19.

The TMPD advised motorists to use alternative routes within the Menlyn precinct, east of Pretoria.

According to TMPD spokesperson Senior Superintended Issac Mahamba, several routes around Menlyn would remain closed off during this awareness parade.

He said the aim for the parade was to fundraise for children living with critical illness.

“Take note that there will be a motorcade awareness parade tomorrow, May 19, by the Superkids Trust. “They will gather from 08:30 at Menlyn Maine and drive around Menlyn,” said TMPD in a statement.

The following streets will be closed from 08:30 to 10:30:

-Aramist Avenue
-Mercy Avenue
-Atterbury Road
-Lois Avenue
-January Masilela Drive
-Corobay Avenue
-Glen Manor Street

Motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:

-Garsfontein Road
-Lynnwood Road
-Mante Road
-Kelvin Street
-Glenwood Road

The route of the march is as follows:

From the gathering point at Menlyn Maine, they will drive along Aramist Avenue and turn left onto January Masilela Drive, turn left at Atterbury Road, and parade around Menlyn until they move back to Menlyn Maine.

He said the metro police and South African Police Service officers would be deployed to monitor the motorcade awareness parade and all the affected streets.
