Trip at substation leaves parts of Pretoria east in the dark
The power is expected to be restored at around 21:00 on Tuesday, May 28.
Large parts of Pretoria east have been plunged into darkness since Monday, May 27.
Ratepayers in parts of Moreleta Park have been subjected to more than 19 hours of widespread power outage.
The power went off at 14:00 on Monday and has yet to be restored.
Ward 91 councillor Henning Viljoen said the outage was being attended to.
“There was a trip between Wingate and Moreleta substations and the cause is currently being investigated.”
Viljoen said the teams found some isolated faulty cables.
“Technicians were dispatched and are busy with repairs.”
He said about 10 medium-volt boxes were off, contributing to the outage.
“The depot team is arranging resources to attend to the issues found on the substation.”
He said the estimated time of repair was 21:00 on Tuesday.
