The victim was declared dead on the scene after being shot in the head twice.

Police in Pretoria are investigating a murder case after a man was shot while driving in Laudium on Friday night.

Tshwane police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said the suspect was unknown and a manhunt was being launched to arrest the perpetrator.

Van Dyk said the shooting took place around 23:00 on Friday, May 31, on the corner of Jewel and Sapphire streets.

According to a Laudium SAPS report, the man was driving along Sapphire Street in a blue Renault Clio, when an unknown person began to shoot at him.

“The victim managed to drive until the corner of 13th Avenue and Sapphire Street, where he collided with a tree and passed away,” said Van Dyk.

He said that the victim was declared dead on the scene by Tshwane emergency services department medics.

Van Dyk said that there was no witness on the scene and that the suspect or suspects were not known at this stage.

PAJ Community Patrollers reported that its control room received notice of a motor vehicle accident followed by gunshots at about 22:42.

The security organisation said that more gunshots were heard a few minutes later.

“A vehicle hit a tree, and the occupant was found with two gunshot wounds to the head.”
