Economic, employment spin-offs expected from three-day aviation trade show

More than 70 local and international exhibitors showcased their products and services through the 3-day expo.

Aviation trade show AERO South Africa displayed all there is to know about the aviation industry in 2024 from July 3-5 at the Wonderboom National Airport.

More than 70 local and international exhibitors showcased their products and services at the three-day expo. The show was made possible by the world’s largest trade fair and event organiser, Messe Frankfurt, and many other partners.

Tshwane has been hosting the show since the first instalment in 2019 until the fourth this year.

It is expected that the metro’s participation in the show will result in economic benefits and job creation.

Hannes Coetzee, MMC for Economic Development and Spatial Planning, who attended the show, expressed his enthusiasm over the financial opportunities that it offers.

“What I found interesting is the investment that people want to bring to the city of excellence. I have spoken to quite a bit of the exhibitioners and they are more than willing to even train aeroplane fitters. There are many other fields, and people are manufacturing but what makes me excited is the job creation and the development. If you look at aviation as a whole, the growth that is taking place, the job creation that is there, uplifting the poorest of the poor, it’s a great initiative,” Coetzee said.

All who attended were thanked in a social media post.

“As AERO South Africa comes to a close, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who joined us! We’re thankful to have shared this experience with you, and we believe that meaningful connections were made, valuable relationships were forged, and unforgettable memories were created,” it read.
