Over 500 Tshwane criminals netted in weekend operation
The operations conducted involved high-visibility patrols at crime hotspots, compliance inspections, and raids on illegal liquor outlets.

Tshwane police arrested 502 suspects for various crimes over the weekend.
The operations were conducted in collaboration with various agencies, including Home Affairs, the Gauteng Traffic Department, metro police, and CPFs from respective stations, led by SAPS Brigadier Samuel Thine.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said police used a multidisciplinary approach to fight crime effectively, involving high-visibility patrols at crime hotspots, compliance inspections, and raids on illegal liquor outlets.
“By the end of the weekend, 237 people were arrested for crimes ranging from assault and housebreaking to public drinking, driving under the influence of alcohol, and armed robbery,” he said.

He said among them 75 were arrested for gender-based violence, two for attempted murder, two for armed robbery, and 41 for assault.
“Three tactical groups were deployed to patrol the streets of Mabopane. After these teams inspected 12 alcohol establishments and identified six as non-compliant with liquor regulations, alcohol was confiscated,” he said.
