Central partners donate linen to children
Almost three bakkie loads of sheets, blankets, towels and scatter cushions were handed over to Wayne van Onselen, founder and executive director of UOC.
Amid the freezing temperatures residents of Pretoria find themselves in, Premier Hotel, Ms Africa and Arcadia CID have donated a large amount of linen to help kids stay warm this winter.
Unchain Our Children (UOC) is a registered non-profit that aims to combat child prostitution, child abuse, human trafficking and other violations. Based in Hatfield, UOC carries out its charitable work aimed toward helping children across the metro.
Reigning Ms Africa McCayla Warriker, manager of Arcadia City Improvement District (CID), Catherine Keyworth and general manager of Premier Hotel in Central, Ben Jonas facilitated the handover on July 4 at the Premier Hotel.
Almost three bakkie loads of sheets, blankets, towels and scatter cushions were handed over to Wayne van Onselen, founder and executive director of UOC.
Baby clothes, baby blankies, soft toys and adult clothes were also added to the linen donation by McCayla who UOC says uses her pageantry positively for change.
“Unchain Our Children wants to express our immense gratitude towards Ben Jonas, Catherine Keyworth and Ms Africa McCayla Warriker for their support of our cause and the way they care through this valued donation. [This] will not only bring warmth and comfort to the recipients but also their hearts, knowing that there are still businesses and people that care enough to give,” Van Onselen said.
“When I look for someone with compassion for her fellow human, there is Catherine – her humble but confident demeanour has inspired many initiatives resulting in successes, uplifting everyone around her,” he said.
Warriker also extended her gratitude to UOC saying, “On behalf of Africa, thank you Unchain Our Children for combatting child abuse”.
