Several areas in Tshwane still without water supply due to maintenance
Water tankers are still being sent to these areas which are mostly in Centurion and the north of Pretoria.
Several areas in Tshwane are still dependent on tankers for water supply.
This is as the water supply is gradually being restored to areas affected by Rand Water’s three-day maintenance over the weekend.
However, some areas are still without water.
Tshwane spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said the maintenance, which began on July 29, has affected 18 of Tshwane’s reservoirs supplied by the Palmiet System.
He said Tshwane has acknowledged the slow recovery period of the reservoirs in some areas and is working to address the issue.
According to Mashigo, the affected reservoirs include the following areas:
– Akasia
– Bakenkop
– Blair Athol
– Brakfontein
– Erasmia
– Kosmosdal Connection
– Laudium,
– Lotus Gardens
– Louwlardia
– Mabopane
– Magaliesberg
– Mnandi
– Raslouw
– Rooihuiskraal
– Saulsville
– Soshanguve DD
– Soshanguve L
– Sunderland Ridge
Mashigo explained that not all areas listed are affected.
“Water tankers are being directed to areas in conjunction with local councillors, who are familiar with community needs,” said Mashigo.
He urged residents to use water sparingly during the maintenance period to avoid a deep drop in reservoir levels.
Mashigo said even after the maintenance is completed, it is crucial to continue using water sparingly to allow the system to recover quickly.
He advised residents to check with their local authorities for specific information on the water outages in their areas.
