Hundreds arrested during recent law enforcement operation
Police recovered a firearm reported stolen in 2013 in Brits.
Police, during a recent multidisciplinary operation that resulted in the arrest of 360 suspects, descended upon the rural communities of Cullinan and Kameeldrift in the east and north of Pretoria.
The operation was led by Brigadier Moses Dladla, the acting district commissioner of Tshwane, and consisted of patrols in high-crime areas, compliance inspections, and illegal alcohol raids.

Tshwane detectives arrested 296 suspects, including individuals involved in serious crimes: 72 for gender-based violence (GBV), 5 for attempted murder, 4 for armed robbery, and 4 for rape.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan Van Dyk said, “Three tactical teams formed the backbone of the operation and were deployed in crime hotspots in the two policing areas. During the operation, 78 premises were searched for contraband and unlicensed firearms. Fifty-seven undocumented immigrants were arrested and detained, pending deportation after legal processes were finalised. Additionally, 5 individuals were arrested and fined for employing illegal immigrants.”
One suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and 53 bullets.
Van Dyk said this firearm was reported stolen in Brits in 2013 and the investigation will continue to determine whether the suspect firearm could be linked to other crimes.
Another suspect was arrested for possession of illicit cigarettes after 2 380 loose cigarettes were found in his possession.
Traffic violation notices were issued, amounting to R169 700 in fines.
Departments such as Home Affairs, Gauteng Traffic, TMPD and CPFs, were involved. Officers from various SAPS stations and community groups also took part in the operation.
