Pretoria is bracing for an intense heatwave from Friday to Monday, with temperatures expected to soar to 37°C.

Pretoria is set to experience scorching temperatures as a heatwave hits the city from Friday to Monday, with forecasts predicting highs of up to 37°C.

The SA Weather Services (SAWS) issued an alert for heatwave temperatures from Friday to Monday. Here are the temperatures that are expected:

  • Friday: 35°C
  • Saturday: 37°C
  • Sunday: 35°C
  • Monday: 35°C

“When the temperature is extremely high, humans’ ability to cool their bodies through sweating is reduced.
“This can be a real threat that leads to hyperthermia. In an extremely hot environment, heat stroke is the most serious health and safety concern.”

Pretoria is predicted to face a series of heatwaves this month. The scorching temperatures can lead to dangerous situations, especially for vulnerable people such as infants, children, pregnant women, and the elderly. Without proper precautions, extreme heat can lead to heat stroke or even death.
