Suspects to appear in court, linked to a murder and other robberies across Pretoria

The suspects have been linked with seven other serious cases.

Six suspects are set to appear in the Brits Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 4, following their arrest for possession of unlicensed firearms.

The arrests occurred on October 31 after a coordinated operation by the Brits Crime Intelligence and various law enforcement agencies, based on intelligence received from the Tshwane District.

Police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh said the suspects were intercepted at around 14:50 near the Brits Traffic Department while travelling in a grey Mercedes Benz.

Myburgh said a search of the vehicle uncovered three firearms and ammunition, with two of the guns having had their serial numbers removed.

“The suspects could not provide a satisfactory explanation for their possession of the weapons, leading to their immediate detention.”

“Investigations have linked the suspects to seven other serious cases, including robbery and murder, reported in Temba and Hammanskraal between June and October of this year,” said Myburgh.

Myburgh said one of the firearms was traced back to a house robbery in Kameeldrift in July this year.
