Suspected serial rapist of three young girls remains behind bars
A group of girls were allegedly lured to the accused’s house, where he would pay them money before raping them.
A 34-year-old suspect accused of raping three young girls will remain in police custody until January 20 next year.
The accused briefly appeared at the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, December 4 facing charges of rape.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Adéle Myburgh, the suspect was arrested at his residence in Ikageng Extension in Klipgat, north of Pretoria on December 2, after being linked to the rape of three young girls, aged 12.
Myburgh said the police arrested the accused after one of the mothers of the victims found her daughter at the man’s place last week Sunday.
“The 12-year-old later told her mother that the accused raped her and the mother immediately reported the matter to the police,” said Myburgh.
Myburgh said it’s alleged that this has been going on since January this year.
“The victim was part of a group of girls that were allegedly lured to the accused’s house where he would pay them money to rape them and the incidents were never reported.
“The possibility of linking the accused who is illegally in the country to multiple cases of the same nature cannot be ruled out.”
The police will continue to work hard to ensure that such criminals are brought to book and face the full might of the law.
