Fatal accident leaves two dead, four injured in East of Pretoria

Two patients, one in the car and the other, a pedestrian, suffered fatal injuries.

A pedestrian was left dead after he was hit by a motor vehicle at Simon Vermooten Road, opposite Willows Crossing Centre on January 11.

Various emergency services responded to the scene in the east of Pretoria where two lives were lost and four other people injured.

According to Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson, Lindsay Mnguni, their medics responded to a fatal accident on Saturday.

“It was just after 09:30 when we received reports of a serious motor vehicle crash on Simon Vermooten road at Willows Crossing near Griffiths Street in Equestria.”

Mnguni said two light motor vehicles and one pedestrian were involved in the incident.

He said two patients were declared dead on the scene by paramedics.

“Two patients, one in the car and the other, a pedestrian, suffered fatal injuries.

“Four other patients with minor to serious injuries were taken by various private ambulances to different private hospitals,” said Mnguni.

The scene was handed over to police who will further investigate the incident.
