Six men were arrested on Friday morning in Mamelodi for attempted murder, dealing in drugs and other charges.
Police spokesperson Captain Andre van Dyk said the six men face charges of attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition, and dealing in drugs.
“The arrests follow after information was received from the community by Mamelodi SAPS members, which acted on information regarding three individuals, aged 43, 25, and 21, allegedly involved in drug dealing.”
He said the men were apprehended at three separate locations in Mamelodi East, after a operational takedown was planned and executed. The officers seized 41 sachets of Nyaope, 103 rocks of cocaine, and 32 packets of dagga, with an estimated street value of R10,500.
“In addition, three more suspects were arrested during the same operation for attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition. A suspect wanted for an attempted murder case dating back to July 2017 was successfully traced and apprehended.”
Furthermore, in Mahube, two additional people were arrested after being found in possession of a 9mm pistol, a rifle holder, and 216 rounds of live shotgun ammunition.
The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine, has welcomed the arrests and commended the officers for their ongoing commitment to fighting crime.
